Guarding What Is Sacred

Guarding What Is Sacred

Key Scripture:

“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.” — Matthew 7:6

Reflection / Message:

There’s a sacredness to the truth God places within us. Not everything He reveals is meant to be shared with everyone. Jesus reminds us in this verse that discernment is an act of stewardship — a form of protecting what is holy.

The “pearls” in this passage represent the wisdom, revelation, and grace that God entrusts to us. They are precious treasures meant to be handled with care, not thrown into environments where they’ll be dismissed or ridiculed.

This doesn’t mean we withhold love or truth from others; it means we rely on the Holy Spirit to guide when and how we share it.
Discernment isn’t judgment — it’s wisdom.

God calls us to walk wisely, guarding our hearts and the sacred truths He plants within them. As we grow in faith, we learn that not every conversation, connection, or opportunity deserves access to what’s holy.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23

When we protect what God has placed within us, we honor Him. And when the time is right, He’ll show us where to cast our pearls — where they’ll be received, not rejected.

Prayer:

Lord, teach me to walk with discernment. Help me to recognize what You’ve made sacred in my life and to honor it. Give me wisdom to know when to speak, when to stay silent, and when to wait for Your timing. Amen.
